NFL Week 2 Picks

Standard

Cloudy days are quite fun when you are writing. It offers you something to do while you mope around. It is Wednesday so it means that it is time for picks. It is the second week of the NFL regular season. Some interesting matchups that could be good or bad. Here are the picks:

Pittsburgh @ Baltimore: Steelers. The Ravens are distracted by the Ray Rice news so I feel the Steelers will be at more of an advantage.

New York Jets @ Green Bay: Packers. The line is -8 for the Packers as the favorite. I like the line and therefore the Packers will be my pick. Otherwise I’d pick them anyway.

Miami @ Buffalo: Bills. First game at home since the death of Ralph Wilson in March. Certainly the Bills will play for their longtime owner and friend. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Dolphins play well and win too.

Detroit @ Carolina: Lions. The lions looked good against the Giants. The Panthers did as well but in terms of personnel and talent the Lions got them beat.

Atlanta @ Cincinnati: Bengals. I’ll stick on the Bengals bandwagon on this game. The Falcons got lucky last week and I don’t feel good in this one for the Falcons.

New Orleans @ Cleveland: Saints. Don’t get me started. The Saints will own the Browns.

New England @ Minnesota: Patriots. Good game in TCF Bank Stadium. Passing attack heavy.

Arizona @ New York Giants: Cards. The Giants will go 0-2 and the Cardinals will go 2-0 in this game. Eli Manning vs Cardinals secondary will be key to this game.

Dallas @ Tennessee: Titans. The AFC has been bad for the Cowboys and this game won’t be any different.

Jacksonville @ Washington: Washington. The jags will go to RFK to look for a win against RGIII but they wont get it because Washington will get a win at 1-1.

Seattle @ San Diego: Seacocks. Don’t like the Chargers at home against a super power in the Seahawks in this game. Not much to say.

St. Louis @ Tampa Bay: Buccaneers. Tampa got a fluke loss against the Panthers. With a bad Rams team in town I feel good with the Bucs.

Kansas City @ Denver: Broncos. With a line like -13 as the Broncos are favored you have to pick the Broncos in this game. Not the game that last years was.

Houston @ Oakland: Raiders. Upset pick. Not much to lose in this one. I have the faith in the black and silver. So don’t make me shiver. Yes I did rhyme.

Chicago @ San Francisco: Niners. Easy pick when Chicago shat a brick against the Bills of all teams.

Philadelphia @ Indianapolis: Colts. The Eagles had a rough time for some of the game against the Jaguars. They play against a better team against the jags in the Colts. Got to say that I feel that Indy will win.

2014:
Week 1: 8-8

NFL Week 14 Picks

Standard

Greetings again fellow readers. It is that time again for some NFL picks. Last week I had a pretty good week for picks getting a 10-6 record, it might’ve been different if Mike Tomlin didn’t interfere and possibly let the Ravens win the game, the Jets didn’t blow chunks, and the Bills did something that only bad teams would do, let bad teams beat them! Here are my week 14 picks:

Houston @ Jacksonville: Jaguars. I mean yeah the Jaguars were the laughing and yet sad stock in the NFL. So are the Texans. This game may end up in a tie, where no one will win. Is it even sad that I feel good about the Jaguars?

Atlanta @ Green Bay: Packers. Let’s be honest, the Packers got embarrassed on Thanksgiving. The team was a great QB short of winning that game. I haven’t heard any word about Aaron Rodgers being cleared to play in this game. Given that its December and the game is in Lambeau so certainly the Packers have the weather advantage.

Minnesota @ Baltimore: Ravens. Pretty relatively easy pick. Pick them.

Cleveland @ New England: Patriots. The game itself looks promising to watch, given that the Browns hold the Patriots to a close lead late in the game. Other than that this game is a Patriots blowout written all over it.

Oakland @ New York Jets: Raiders! The Jets stunk it up last week against the Dolphins. It is only right to trust my gut instinct (and trust me its a good instinct) that the Raiders will get to 5 wins.

Buffalo @ Tampa Bay: Buccaneers. Vegas is giving the Bucs the edge in this game. Seems like a good enough reason to pick them, I mean after all the team stinks, and so does the Bills. Bills are a top 5 rushing team.

Kansas City @ Washington: KC! RGIII isn’t the same that he was a year ago, certainly because of the slump but the Chiefs need to rebound after losing to the Broncos in the marquee matchup last week. Must win if they want to hold homefield advantage in the playoffs.

St. Louis @ Arizona: Cardinals. The other NFC West game features the Rams traveling to the Cardinals to take on a good Cardinals team fronted by Carson Palmer (yeah that Carson Palmer). I like the Cardinals.

Detroit @ Philadelphia: Eagles. The Lions deserve to go down muahahaha.

New York Giants @ San Diego: Giants. Giants right now look like a 7-5 team than a 5-7 team right now, the thing is that the Giants sort of gave up early in the season and then started to march back into light of relevancy. Chargers could possibly win this game at home but I’ll feel safe with the G-Men.

Seattle @ San Francisco: Seahawks. Very important game this week with the Seahawks coming to Candlestick Park to take on the Niners. The game itself should be a shootout between two good QB’s, but I’m going with the Seahawks.

Carolina @ New Orleans: Saints. The Saints at home are like unbeatable, unlike on the road. Give me the Saints. Sorry Carolina.

Indianapolis @ Cincinnati: Colts. My Non-Picking Bengals rule still applies here. Colts for the upset!

Tennessee @ Denver: Broncos. Don’t get me started with this one.

Dallas @ Chicago: Cowboys. This is really the Monday Night Football game this week. Yuck. Just when I thought the Seahawks/Saints game looked good.

NFL Week 13 Picks

Standard

Thanksgiving is almost upon us! It only means a few things: being thankful, eating turkey and passing out, and football. The fact is this, most of the games on the Thanksgiving slate aren’t that truly appetizing this year, at least NBC actually shows a game that is watchable and features someone other than Detroit or Dallas. If at least one of those two teams were doing well, then the football part of the holiday would be great to watch.

I finished week 12 with a record of 6-7-1 (the tie being the Vikings-Packers game), and if that didn’t happen I would be staring at a .500 record for the week, if the Packers did win. Still the Titans pulling a win out of their asses is quite the accomplishment, and Chicago losing in dramatic fashion against a semi-decent Rams team also killed me.

Here are the picks:

Green Bay @ Detroit: Packers. Of course. The first game on FOX features an Aaron Rodgers-less Packers team that goes into Detroit looking at a win to tie for the division lead against the Lions. The Packers defense held Reggie Bush down the last game these two played and I definitely like the Packers chances giving that Matt Flynn plays like he did against Minnesota last week.

Oakland @ Dallas: Cowboys. The sleeper game, or the second game, on the Thanksgiving schedule has the Raidas going to Jerry World looking to upset the ‘Boys at home. Unfortunately I feel that Dallas will win this game. Sorry Oakland you blew chunks against the Titans.

Pittsburgh @ Baltimore: Steelers. Black and gold is riding pretty high right now, and certainly the Ravens to a certain degree. Vegas has the Ravens as the favorite but I think I’ll take the underdog Steelers in this one.

Tampa Bay @ Carolina: Panthers. The Bucs have had quite the turnaround this season, but they come up against a scorching hot Panthers team fronted by its pack leader Cam Newton. Give me Carolina!

Jacksonville @ Cleveland: Browns. Sure the Jags could steal a win in this one, but the Browns have much riding on the line in this game. To get to five wins will tie for the mark set by them last season. If they win the next two games to get to 6-7 it’ll be the first time the Browns reached six wins since 2005! Let’s go with the Browns since they’re much more stable.

Miami @ New York Jets: Jets. Close game.

Arizona @ Philadelphia: Tough choice. The Cardinals are having one of their better seasons in a while, Philadelphia having its best season for a long time. I could’ve gone with the Cardinals, but I think the Eagles have the edge, but the edge is about as thin as a paperclip. Nick Foles maybe the biggest edge out of it all.

New England @ Houston: Patriots. Don’t give me any reason why the Texans will win this game.

Atlanta @ Buffalo: Bills. The game is at Toronto, in the annual game where Canada gets a glimpse of NFL football in its turf. I’m feeling the Bills as the Falcons problems seem to lie deeper than Matt Ryan.

St. Louis @ San Francisco: Niners. Give me the 49ers. They’re on a roll right now, and I definitely like them topping the Rams.

Denver @ Kansas City: Broncos. The first time these two teams played, it was a pretty good game. The game is at Arrowhead, one of the more louder stadiums in the NFL, Denver won the first matchup, but I’m going with the Broncos again.

New York Giants @ Washington: Giants. Let’s face it, the Redskins got embarrassed against the Niners last Monday. Giants suffered a minor setback against the Cowboys, I like the Giants offense over the Redskins defense.

Tennessee @ Indianapolis: Colts. Certainly the Colts haven’t been playing the way that they should be playing, one example was the Cardinal game last week. Still gotta feel good about the Colts at home.

Chicago @ Minnesota: Vikings. With the way the Bears defense has been playing, the game could easily be the Vikings winning this game. You might give the Bears the edge in this game. Adrian Peterson might have one of his best games this season in this one.

Cincinnati @ San Diego: Chargers. I almost picked the Bengals to win this game, but then I swore I would never pick the Bengals ever again this season, at least until the playoffs. the Chargers impressed me with beating the Chiefs at home. Phillip Rivers is playing back to his old self. Give me the Chargers.

New Orleans @ Seattle: Seahawks. Potential NFC Championship game in the future. The game will be a shootout against two great QB’s in the league. The scores could combine into the 50’s to the 60’s in this game. Biggest edge: 12th man. That place is louder than a Who concert.
