NFL Week 14 Picks

Standard

Greetings again fellow readers. It is that time again for some NFL picks. Last week I had a pretty good week for picks getting a 10-6 record, it might’ve been different if Mike Tomlin didn’t interfere and possibly let the Ravens win the game, the Jets didn’t blow chunks, and the Bills did something that only bad teams would do, let bad teams beat them! Here are my week 14 picks:

Houston @ Jacksonville: Jaguars. I mean yeah the Jaguars were the laughing and yet sad stock in the NFL. So are the Texans. This game may end up in a tie, where no one will win. Is it even sad that I feel good about the Jaguars?

Atlanta @ Green Bay: Packers. Let’s be honest, the Packers got embarrassed on Thanksgiving. The team was a great QB short of winning that game. I haven’t heard any word about Aaron Rodgers being cleared to play in this game. Given that its December and the game is in Lambeau so certainly the Packers have the weather advantage.

Minnesota @ Baltimore: Ravens. Pretty relatively easy pick. Pick them.

Cleveland @ New England: Patriots. The game itself looks promising to watch, given that the Browns hold the Patriots to a close lead late in the game. Other than that this game is a Patriots blowout written all over it.

Oakland @ New York Jets: Raiders! The Jets stunk it up last week against the Dolphins. It is only right to trust my gut instinct (and trust me its a good instinct) that the Raiders will get to 5 wins.

Buffalo @ Tampa Bay: Buccaneers. Vegas is giving the Bucs the edge in this game. Seems like a good enough reason to pick them, I mean after all the team stinks, and so does the Bills. Bills are a top 5 rushing team.

Kansas City @ Washington: KC! RGIII isn’t the same that he was a year ago, certainly because of the slump but the Chiefs need to rebound after losing to the Broncos in the marquee matchup last week. Must win if they want to hold homefield advantage in the playoffs.

St. Louis @ Arizona: Cardinals. The other NFC West game features the Rams traveling to the Cardinals to take on a good Cardinals team fronted by Carson Palmer (yeah that Carson Palmer). I like the Cardinals.

Detroit @ Philadelphia: Eagles. The Lions deserve to go down muahahaha.

New York Giants @ San Diego: Giants. Giants right now look like a 7-5 team than a 5-7 team right now, the thing is that the Giants sort of gave up early in the season and then started to march back into light of relevancy. Chargers could possibly win this game at home but I’ll feel safe with the G-Men.

Seattle @ San Francisco: Seahawks. Very important game this week with the Seahawks coming to Candlestick Park to take on the Niners. The game itself should be a shootout between two good QB’s, but I’m going with the Seahawks.

Carolina @ New Orleans: Saints. The Saints at home are like unbeatable, unlike on the road. Give me the Saints. Sorry Carolina.

Indianapolis @ Cincinnati: Colts. My Non-Picking Bengals rule still applies here. Colts for the upset!

Tennessee @ Denver: Broncos. Don’t get me started with this one.

Dallas @ Chicago: Cowboys. This is really the Monday Night Football game this week. Yuck. Just when I thought the Seahawks/Saints game looked good.

NFL Week 14 Picks

Standard

Week 14 of 17 is coming up in full speed ahead. 3 weeks left after this one. Should be an interesting stretch the rest of the way. The week doesn’t start out as perhaps some would figure with the Broncos vs Raiders tomorrow (or later on 12/6/12) depending on when you’re reading this column. This week features some intriguing match-ups that you should keep an eye on. Some good games this week unlike the past few weeks. Here are the picks:

Denver @ Oakland: Broncos. Might not be the tastiest match-up ever, but oh hell what am I kidding, this thing tastes more sour than a cookie without sugar (trust me, Home Ec class made cookies, forgot to put in the sugar, tasted sour with more salt than anything). Broncos are favored by 10 in this one. I feel this will be won by 10 points or more.

St. Louis @ Buffalo: Buffalo. Buffalo in the winter is truly a winter wonderland. High temperature is supposedly at 44 degrees, now I’m from North Dakota and that feels like fall to me. Honest. I’ll take the Bills.

Kansas City @ Cleveland: Kansas City. I’ll buy the Chiefs in this one. I never pick the Chiefs often in this one but I’ll go on a whim. Why? They had a play your heart out game at home against Carolina and this I feel they will get some momentum and get some respect in the league.

Philadelphia @ Tampa Bay: Tampa Bay. Buccaneers should have a rebound game in this one. They’re going to play like its a playoff game, as this team is still a possible playoff team. I think they will do it with the best rush defense against the 9th best running game in the league in the Eagles.

New York Jets @ Jacksonville Jaguars: Jets. I really hate trying to make a pick in this one. Honestly these two teams are awful to the core. I think I learned my lesson with this team because if Mark Sanchez gets benched again and perhaps Greg McElroy gets put in they will have a better chance to win this game. Then again Jets are great against bad teams.

San Diego @ Pittsburgh: Pittsburgh. Chargers are a sad story, Pittsburgh will make plays to win this game, Steelers are favored by a touchdown and I like the Steelers chances.

Chicago @ Minnesota: Chicago. I’m mad right now. Christian Ponder proposed to my girl Samantha Steele. Screw the Vikings, Bears intercept 4 passes and force the Vikings to choose someone else, then Steele will divorce from him. Boom! Okay maybe that won’t happen but still I’m mad. Oh right reason for the pick. The Vikings are getting +3 in this game so this game could be more closer than I thought it would. I’ll still take the Bears. Though I hope both teams go for the tie. There can only be one to run the NFC North. PACKERS!

Atlanta @ Carolina: Atlanta. Despite all the offensive problems that the Falcons had last week I still like them, and their defense improved quite a bit. So I’ll take the Falcons in this game.

Dallas @ Cincinnati: I’ll take the Bengals. The game looks very intriguing, the Cowboys have a crazy schedule the rest of the way. Bengals offense I like, good defense, great wide receivers. Bengals.

Tennessee @ Indianapolis: Colts. Andrew Luck continues to amaze writers across the country, Titans don’t look good especially with the Colts at home, loud fans, great quarterback.

Baltimore @ Washington: Baltimore. Very intriguing match-up with this game. Probably going to be a great match-up. Ray Rice vs RGIII in terms of rushing could be great. Sexy matchup. I’ll take Flacco and Rice on the road in a close game.

Miami @ San Francisco: 49ers. Favored by 10 are the 49ers in this one. This game could be bad by halftime. Of course there’s the quarterback situation with the Niners and everything will depend on how well Smith or Kaepernick will do in this one.

New Orleans @ New York Giants: The Gints. The Gmen look like the dominant team in this game but this game could be a great one to watch, Giants defense might take control in this game which would basically put this one out of reach in this one if the Giants defense can get to Brees quickly and often.

Arizona @ Seattle: Seahawks. Russell Wilson is great at home this season, I’ll take the Seahawks to continue their playoff hunt.

Detroit @ Green Bay: Packers. Of course I’m picking the Packers in this one. Obviously. We’ll take care of business at home, which Packers fans are loud and wild.

Houston @ New England: Patriots. Compelling matchup for a Monday Night game. This game features some two great offenses with Schaub and Brady playing.

My market’s games: CBS singleheader: Miami @ San Francisco (late-game), FOX early-game: Chicago @ Minnesota, FOX late-game: New Orleans @ New York Giants.
