NFL Week 9 Picks

Standard

As I did a post for Thursday night, I forgot to do some people a favor and to post my picks for the rest of the week. To be fair, I was at work, and I was relaxing and then I realized that if I didn’t post my pick for TNF. The undefeated streak is over, the Bengals screwed up just when people wanted to believe in them, they blow. Still I had a good week in picks last week with 10 wins and 3 losses. 13 games this week, get psyched! Trying to write these picks while watching “How I Met Your Mother,” good show.

Kansas City @ Buffalo: Chiefs

Atlanta @ Carolina: Panthers

New Orleans @ New York Jets: Saints.

San Diego @ Washington: Washington.

Philadelphia @ Oakland: Eagles. If you lose this game, you will never be picked by me again! Mark my words!

Tampa Bay @ Seattle: Seahawks.

Baltimore @ Cleveland: Ravens.

Pittsburgh @ New England: Patriots.

Minnesota @ Dallas: Cowboys.

Indianapolis @ Houston: Colts.

Tennessee @ St. Louis: Titans.

Chicago @ Green Bay: Packers.

NFL Week 6 Picks

Standard

Okay so I didn’t do a Week 5 recap of NFL action, but I did manage to get to a 10-4 finish to finish off the week. Have been working quite a bit for me to not really do posts as much as I should but I’m doing this before the Bears vs Giants game tonight. Will the Giants get their first win of the season? Will New Orleans lose to the Patriots and thus end their unbeaten streak? Will Atlanta beat their bye week? Will Zooey Deschanel come to my door topless and enter my apartment not giving a f**k? All these questions and more will be answered in this weeks picks!

New York Giants @ Chicago: Bears. I’m undefeated in Thursday Night Football picks (including the opening night matchup). Thus I am going with the safe pick in the Bears, as I feel the Giants woes will still continue to topple them.

Green Bay @ Baltimore: Packers. Sadly this game isn’t on in my area and I will be working for most of the second half. The 2-2 Packers travel to Baltimore and they should get a W in this one in a good fashion, always a safe bet with Aaron Rodgers as the captain.

Philadelphia @ Tampa Bay: Eagles. I don’t think anyone realizes how wide open the NFC East is (not also to mention how bad the division is), and certainly if you are an Eagles fan this is an opportunity to gain some momentum in the division, and the Buccaneers are looking like a Pirate on a sinking ship, I don’t think Captain Schiano is going to go down with it however.

Pittsburgh @ New York Jets: Jets. I feel weird even picking the Jets. The team to be frank wasn’t supposed to go anywhere and yet they win against a former playoff team in the Falcons. Why not the Jets?

Carolina @ Minnesota; Panthers. This game is basically an awful one to really even comprehend. Both of them are bad and this game could go either way and I’ll just go with the Panthers.

Oakland @ Kansas City: Chiefs. I don’t have much to say in this one.

St. Louis @ Houston: Texans. Let’s just say that the Texans should win this one. I’m not hopeful for the Rams in this one.

Cincinnati @ Buffalo: Bengals. A good win against the Patriots last week has given the Bengals out of my doghouse even though I didn’t pick them to beat the Patriots. Bills are still a rebuilding team but an exciting one.

Detroit @ Cleveland: Lions. This game just might be the best game of the week that isn’t on the late slate of games. Both of these teams have improved quite a bit. Still going to have to go with the Lions even though a part of me says the Browns continue their Cinderella run this season.

Tennessee @ Seattle: Seahawks. Very very safe pick in the Seahawks in this one. Especially if it is in Seattle where its louder than a Who concert (I’m talking about 1970’s Who concerts not today’s concerts mind you, Keith Moon’s death killed the Who).

Jacksonville @ Denver: Broncos. Come on, don’t even bother picking the Jaguars in this one.

New Orleans @ New England: Saints. The last time these two teams met was in 2009 when the Saints won the Super Bowl in 2010. The Saints won this regular season matchup in 2009 and then beat the Colts in the Super Bowl. I’m not saying that this Saints team will win this year’s Super Bowl but I feel safe with the Saints.

Arizona @ San Francisco: Niners. The other late game on FOX and this one isn’t going to turn out well for the Cards in this one. Pick the 49ers, trust me.

Washington @ Dallas; Redskins. The Redskins played like fire the last time they were playing at Dallas in last year’s Thanksgiving game. RGIII was playing well and i trust the Redskins in this game. It could end badly for them but why not?

Indianapolis @ San Diego: Colts. Another Monday, another crappy Monday night football match-up. Andrew Luck has beaten the Sophomore slump so far in his career and I feel good about the Colts.

2013:
Week 1: 12-4
Week 2: 11-5
Week 3: 7-9
Week 4: 11-4
Week 5: 10-4
Total: 51-26-0

2012:

NFL Week 4 Recap

Standard

Yep I know it is late, and I know you’ve probably already forgotten about week 4 as much as I did but here’s the recap. Some close games, some surprises, some blowouts, some games that you would rather not watch and watch the finale of Breaking Bad. Despite that I had a decent week in terms of wins of picks this week and hopefully you had fun watching the games as much as I did. Probably expect Week 5 post sometime later on Thursday.

San Francisco 35, St. Louis 11: Had the Niners winning. The Niners that I had predicted the week before would have a rebound game against their NFC West rivals and they destroyed the Rams.

Baltimore 20, Buffalo 23: Had the Ravens winning. Seriously Baltimore? When I pick you this week you lose, and last week you won, what gives? You lose to an inferior Bills team? Flacco didn’t have his Flacco flakes that morning I guess.

Arizona 13, Tampa Bay 10: Had Arizona winning. The game was a snore fest. It as a bad day to be a Bucs fan (no not the Pittsburgh Bucs, you know what I mean). Apparently there’s some controversy over how the Bucs are handling Josh Freeman and it seems everyday it gets more awful for the franchise.

Pittsburgh 27, Minnesota 34: had Pittsburgh winning. Some how the Vikings won this game without blowing it all sky high. Pittsburgh is officially right next to the Jaguars as the second worst team in the league.

New York Giants 7, Kansas City 31: had the Chiefs winning. The Chiefs pulled of a huge win against a bad Giants team that is starting to show its cracks. I’m afraid its more of an end of the Tom Coughlin era that’s going to end in a bad way, and not in a way that Tom wants to end it.

Indianapolis 37, Jaguars 3: Had the Colts winning. How about those Colts?

Seattle 23, Houston 20: Had Seattle winning. Needless to say the Seahawks pulled off a huge road win at a hostile environment. Was Matt Schaub a member of the Seahawks?

Cincinnati 6, Cleveland 17: Had the Bengirls winning. The year of the Browns is starting to blossom, probably one of the most underrated story of the year right now outside of the Saints turnaround.

Detroit 40, Chicago 32; Had the Lions winning. The rivalry that never ends gets into a new chapter, the Bears looked tough but the Lions seemed to be a better team now that Reggie Bush is being part of the Lions running attack. As a Packer fan I’m afraid, very afraid.

New York Jets 13, Tennessee 38: Had the Titans winning. The game reminded me of the song “Won’t Get Fooled Again” by the Who. In the final lines its “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss” except it was the J-E-T-S. New Jets team = Old Jets team.

Washington 24, Oakland 14: had the Redskins winning. Well the Redskins won a game, wow! Wait… wait. Its against the Raiders… nice try Washington.

Philadelphia 20, Denver 52: Had Denver winning. The score is like a college football game, you have Alabama (Denver) taking on some FCS school (Philadephia) and trashing them on national television. Hardly watchable.

Dallas 21, San Diego 30: Had the Cowgirls winning. The Cowboys fooled me again in this one. Up yours Dallas, I’ll never pick you guys ever again!

New England 30, Atlanta 23: Had Patriots winning. The season gets better for the Patriots, and worse for the Falcons. One seems to find and taste the endzone, while the other gets blinded by the endzones power and messes up. Rough start for the Falcons.

Miami 17, New Orleans 38: Had the Saints winning. The game has not much else for me to say. Except, it has to speak volumes for the return of Sean Payton as head coach. Coaching is overrated? Ask a Saints fan that and they’ll tell you straight.

2013:
Week 1: 12-4
Week 2: 11-5
Week 3: 7-9
Week 4: 12-4
Total: 42-22-0

NFL Week 4 Picks

Standard

Today is Thursday which means one more day of work until the weekend. It also means the start of a new football week in store. Its week 5 in college football, but its week 4 in the NFL. Tonight’s game will be the 49ers traveling to St. Louis to take on the Rams. Might be a good game but certainly a decent matchup from the Monday night snorefest of the Broncos and the Raiders. Here’s the picks:

San Francisco @ St. Louis: Niners. San Francisco had a huge setback last week against the Colts. I feel that this game will be a wake up game for the 49ers and Colin Kaepernick will come out swinging.

Baltimore @ Buffalo: Ravens. It was I who made the mistake in not choosing the Ravens last week against Houston. Hopefully Ravens fans can forgive me if I pick them to win against the Bills. Hopefully Joe Flacco will take down the Bills.

Cincinnati @ Cleveland: Cincinnati. The Bengals got a huge win against the Packers last week and against the Browns I feel safe in picking the Bengals against their in-state rivals. Plus A.J. Green is in the equation. Needless to say the Bengals will win.

Chicago @ Detroit: Lions. Guess who is favored in this matchup? Jay Cutler smoking something? Calvin Johnson turning himself into Megatron, the real Megatron? Nope, the Lions are favored by 3 in this NFC North divisional rivalry. Plus, I’m going with the Lions in this one at Ford Field, Lions fans are resilient.

Seattle @ Houston: Seahawks. Needless to say the Texans laid a huge egg last week when they played against the Ravens and I feel good riding on the Seahawks bandwagon a bit longer.

New York Giants @ Kansas City: Chiefs. I would almost say that I would pick the Giants if this game happened last year when the Chiefs couldn’t win a game to save their lives (or head coach for that matter). The Chiefs might be overrated but you gotta feel good that the Chiefs are doing well, which does help the NFL a bit as their fans at Arrowhead are crazy insane awesome fans.

Pittsburgh @ Minnesota: Steelers. Technically this isn’t at the Metrodump or even Heinz Field, but of all places it is not even in the country, or the continent but in Europe. London, England for that matter. As much as I hate the idea of having an NFL team in London, it might happen sooner or later. I still like the Steelers in this dumpster of a matchup. Could be a worthy toilet bowl game, who knows.

Arizona @ Tampa Bay: Cardinals. Josh Freeman has had a bad week and pretty much a bad week in general for the Buccaneers who can’t seem to get their first win despite the hype that they might be a worthy playoff team. In general the Cardinals look better in terms of talent than the Cardinals which says a bit, but I’ll go on the upset pick and take the Cardinals.

New York Jets @ Tennessee: Titans. Two 2-1 teams in this one. Might be a pretty good game, but I feel safe in picking the home team even though Geno Smith is playing decent so far this season.

Philadelphia @ Denver: Denver. This game might be something of a good game, a late game on FOX which I’m sure most of America will get on their TV’s. Philadelphia might be a team that the Broncos may meld into but Peyton Manning is already having a MVP season heading into week 4, a case when most players start to turn their MVP seasons towards later. Manning will score 4 touchdowns maybe.

Washington @ Oakland: Redskins. Let’s admit it, both of these teams are lying on a dumpster fire trying to keep themselves warm, I will take the Redskins in this one and they might actually score points in the 1st half instead of the opposition scoring on them.

New England @ Atlanta: Patriots. A possible Super Bowl matchup in this one, one team is trying to get back to the playoffs, and the other team is trying to keep up their road to the playoffs with no name receivers. Luckily I’ll be at work when this game is on, because this isn’t a sexy matchup.

Indianapolis @ Jacksonville: Colts. Wait… wait… WAIT! WAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIITTTT! I want to pick the Jaguars in this one. I like the Jaguars. I will pick the Jaguars in this one if someone gives me one of these three things: 1) A date with Zooey Deschanel (I’m over Sam Ponder), 2) 10,000 dollars, 3) An all-expenses paid trip to Boston (so that I can watch my Red Sox, Bruins, or Celtics). If these demands are not met I will not pick the Jaguars in this game. Colts win by 20.

Dallas @ San Diego: Dallas. Cowgirls travel to Carmen San Diego to take on the Chargers in this one. The Cowpies lost to the Chiefs in their last interleague game but I feel good about the Cowsills in this one.

Miami @ New Orleans: Saints. New Orleans has been having a great season so far and the renaissance of football in the Big Easy has been a success as Sean Payton and Rob Ryan (the other sexy beast Ryan brother) has taken the leashes on the Saints defense and returned it to their good-old days. ESPN finally picked a good game to show for us football fans.
