NFL Week 6 Picks

Standard

Okay so I didn’t do a Week 5 recap of NFL action, but I did manage to get to a 10-4 finish to finish off the week. Have been working quite a bit for me to not really do posts as much as I should but I’m doing this before the Bears vs Giants game tonight. Will the Giants get their first win of the season? Will New Orleans lose to the Patriots and thus end their unbeaten streak? Will Atlanta beat their bye week? Will Zooey Deschanel come to my door topless and enter my apartment not giving a f**k? All these questions and more will be answered in this weeks picks!

New York Giants @ Chicago: Bears. I’m undefeated in Thursday Night Football picks (including the opening night matchup). Thus I am going with the safe pick in the Bears, as I feel the Giants woes will still continue to topple them.

Green Bay @ Baltimore: Packers. Sadly this game isn’t on in my area and I will be working for most of the second half. The 2-2 Packers travel to Baltimore and they should get a W in this one in a good fashion, always a safe bet with Aaron Rodgers as the captain.

Philadelphia @ Tampa Bay: Eagles. I don’t think anyone realizes how wide open the NFC East is (not also to mention how bad the division is), and certainly if you are an Eagles fan this is an opportunity to gain some momentum in the division, and the Buccaneers are looking like a Pirate on a sinking ship, I don’t think Captain Schiano is going to go down with it however.

Pittsburgh @ New York Jets: Jets. I feel weird even picking the Jets. The team to be frank wasn’t supposed to go anywhere and yet they win against a former playoff team in the Falcons. Why not the Jets?

Carolina @ Minnesota; Panthers. This game is basically an awful one to really even comprehend. Both of them are bad and this game could go either way and I’ll just go with the Panthers.

Oakland @ Kansas City: Chiefs. I don’t have much to say in this one.

St. Louis @ Houston: Texans. Let’s just say that the Texans should win this one. I’m not hopeful for the Rams in this one.

Cincinnati @ Buffalo: Bengals. A good win against the Patriots last week has given the Bengals out of my doghouse even though I didn’t pick them to beat the Patriots. Bills are still a rebuilding team but an exciting one.

Detroit @ Cleveland: Lions. This game just might be the best game of the week that isn’t on the late slate of games. Both of these teams have improved quite a bit. Still going to have to go with the Lions even though a part of me says the Browns continue their Cinderella run this season.

Tennessee @ Seattle: Seahawks. Very very safe pick in the Seahawks in this one. Especially if it is in Seattle where its louder than a Who concert (I’m talking about 1970’s Who concerts not today’s concerts mind you, Keith Moon’s death killed the Who).

Jacksonville @ Denver: Broncos. Come on, don’t even bother picking the Jaguars in this one.

New Orleans @ New England: Saints. The last time these two teams met was in 2009 when the Saints won the Super Bowl in 2010. The Saints won this regular season matchup in 2009 and then beat the Colts in the Super Bowl. I’m not saying that this Saints team will win this year’s Super Bowl but I feel safe with the Saints.

Arizona @ San Francisco: Niners. The other late game on FOX and this one isn’t going to turn out well for the Cards in this one. Pick the 49ers, trust me.

Washington @ Dallas; Redskins. The Redskins played like fire the last time they were playing at Dallas in last year’s Thanksgiving game. RGIII was playing well and i trust the Redskins in this game. It could end badly for them but why not?

Indianapolis @ San Diego: Colts. Another Monday, another crappy Monday night football match-up. Andrew Luck has beaten the Sophomore slump so far in his career and I feel good about the Colts.

NFL Week 6 recap

Standard

Well I hope you guys had a great weekend. I certainly did. Green Bay Packers won. Notre Dame Fighting Irish won. Yankees down 0-2 in the ALCS against the Tigers. What would’ve made this weekend better? Well let’s just say that my picks for week 6 of the NFL season turned into pretty much crap. 4-10. Yep that’s right. I only picked the Packers, Ravens, Buccaneers, and Falcons correctly this week. Here’s the results:

Pittsburgh 23, Tennessee 26: Had Pittsburgh winning. The Steelers suffer another heartbreaking loss going into the final few seconds in the game. Surprising game to see the Steelers lose.

Oakland 20, Atlanta 23: Had Atlanta winning. The biggest story in this game was Matty Ice getting the cold shoulder for 3 interceptions. Atlanta escapes away from a win, but it was also an ugly win.

Dallas 29, Baltimore 31: Had the Ravens winning. The Ravens lost quite a few key guys on defense. Especially their fearless leader Ray Lewis for the season. Dallas lost due to a missed field goal which would’ve gave the Cowboys the win. Good game none the less.

Cincinnati 24, Cleveland 34: Had the Bengals winning. The Browns shocked the world! They got a win! *slap* That’s for me doubting you for this season so far. I didn’t hurt myself too bad. Trust me.

St. Louis 14, Miami 17: Had St. Louis winning. The Dolphins looked great, especially Ryan Tannehill, obviously his hot wife had to do with the win somehow. Lucky guy.

Indianapolis 9, New York Jets 35: Had the Colts winning. Obviously this pick was a stupid pick. The Jets offense had this game in cruise control. Why did I pick the Colts, I don’t know.

Detroit 26, Philadelphia 23: Had Philly winning. The game had “Toilet Bowl” written all over it. The Eagles didn’t deserve to win, but neither did the Lions. But Lions get a win.

Kansas City 10, Tampa Bay 38: Had Buccos winning. The one game that truly was a great pick was actually a great game. Josh Freeman had a great game. All around great game for the Buccaneers.

Buffalo 19, Arizona 16 (OT): Had the Cardinals winning. The best game in the weekend was a close one. If you could learn anything from it, John Skelton looked bad in relieving for a Kevin Kolb who got a ribcage injury in the game. Heartbreaker loss anyway.

New England 23, Seattle 24: Had the Pats winning. The story in this game is that the 12th man rose up to the occasion to shut up Tom Brady and the Patriots. Russel Wilson has beaten Tom Brady, Tony Romo, and Aaron Rodgers, not a bad resume ehh?

New York Giants 26, San Francisco 3: Had San Francisco. Another head scratcher for me to pick. Alex Smith looked awful. 49ers looked awful.

Minnesota 26, Washington 38: Had the Vikings to win. The Vikings looked crap when it came to stopping RGIII. 6th best rushing defense and Robert Griffin III had 138 yards rushing. Bad, bad, bad.

Green Bay 42, Houston 24: Had Green Bay winning. The Aaron Rodgers critics train finally halted to a dead stop as the MVP threw for not 1, no way 2, definitely not 3, not 4, certainly not 5 but 6 touchdowns. “Shh”

Denver 35, Chargers 24: Had the Chargers winning. BIGGEST CHOKE JOB EVER! The Chargers did a Tony Romo, they did a New York Yankees in 2004 ALCS, they did so many things to let the Broncos hang 35 unanswered points on the Chargers. Unbelievable.

Week 1: 11-5
Week 2: 7-9
Week 3: 7-9
Week 4: 11-3-1
Week 5: 8-6
Week 6: 4-10

Overall: 48-42-1

NFL Week 6 picks

Standard

Another post just for you my readers. A late one if you’re into late reading. Decided to include the lines for the games. Not a gambler but to do something different.

Pittsburgh (-5) @ Tennesee: Steelers. The Steelers have quite a bit more talent despite being banged up. Titans I won’t hold my breath for despite road teams having a bad record on Thursday Night Football thus far this season (except for the Giants).

Indianapolis @ New York Jets (-3): Touch call. I’ll take the Colts in this one. Playing for their coach last week showed they had heart, and I think they’ll continue to win against the banged up Jets.

Oakland @ Atlanta (-9.5): Atlanta. The Raiders haven’t looked great on defense and that’s evident on a bigger line. Matt Ryan will shread them apart like a kid unwrapping a Christmas present.

Detroit @ Philadelphia (-5.5): Iggles. Detroit has been too exposed this season, and the Eagles will have this game in a bag by the end of the 3rd Quarter. Vick should be able to handle the Lions defense.

Dallas @ Baltimore (-3.5): The Ravens. The defense of the Ravens have been out in force, unfortunately for the Cowboys they’re in Baltimore. Romo will have a better day than eclipsing Jay Cutler on the “I’m trying to be so good as a QB of the Dallas Cowboys that I want to throw as many interceptions as possible” game in week 4 against the Bears.

Kansas City @ Tampa Bay (-3): Buccos. The Buccaneers could be one of those teams that you have to keep an eye on from this point forward. The Chiefs are a wreck, just like the Edmund Fitzgerald (see google for that reference).

Cincinnati (-1) @ Cleveland: Bengals. The Browns have imploded thus far this season. The Bengals offense you know I love. The Bengals will find a way to win.

St. Louis @ Miami (-3): Rams. Is this the first time I ever picked the ‘Fins this season? (goes back to see in his memory bank and searches) First time. Okay. Wrong. Rams with the upset.

Buffalo @ Arizona (-5): Cards. The game against the Rams was a fluke. Trap game. I forgive you Cardinals. Bills will lay down.

New England (-3.5) @ Seattle: Patriots. The Patriots are quite the good team. The 12th man will not affect them at all. Darth Sweatshirt (Bill Belichek) will have his boys ready.

New York Giants @ San Francisco (-5): I’ll take the 49ers. A close game. I mean the Niners were pretty close to getting to a Super Bowl. A bit more closer than what Vegas has it.

Minnesota @ Washington (-2.5): Vikings. I’ll take the Vikings in that their defense seems quite legit. Vikings offense has shown to be quite good. I’ll take the upset.

Green Bay @ Houston (-5): Green Bay. Why not? Please. I believe in the Packers. You should too. Okay maybe not. I’m a Packers fan first and foremost. I stand with Aaron Rodgers.

Denver @ San Diego (-1): Chargers. San Diego has played good in general. New Orleans game was a fluke. Yep trust me.

Week 1: 11-5
Week 2: 7-9
Week 3: 7-9
Week 4: 11-3-1
Week 5: 8-6
